We are inheritors of the Abrahamic Covenant but not the Mosaic Covenant which came almost 1,000 years later. It did not replace the promises made to Abraham and the standard or "Belief" that God looked to in Abraham to consider him righteous. It was Abraham's faith alone. We are however told that "if we love Him we will keep His commandments". This podcast looks at some of those "Commandments" that Jesus is talking about.
LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT
COMMANDMENTS WE’RE TO LIVE UNDER
For the rest of the chapter Paul goes into a detailed
explanation of the purpose for the law and the gift of
grace in our lives. He differentiates the Abrahamic
covenant and the Mosaic covenant. The Abrahamic
covenant is all about faith being God’s requirement for righteousness (justification before God
by faith). The Mosaic covenant was about law-keeping. These were the laws (the Levitical
laws) that made us conscious of our sin and our shortcomings. It was the Mosaic covenant
with its requisite laws that were replaced by the “new covenant in His blood.”
